Learning to read and recite the Quran properly is an essential part of daily life for Muslims. The beauty of recitation lies in pronouncing each letter correctly.

The ability to read and recite the Quran with tajweed in a proper and clear way is something that is expected of Muslims. We provide interactive one-on-one sessions to help our students learn tajweed rules.

Course Outline

This is an advanced level class in which students will be completing the higher-level rules of tajweed, and is suitable for teachers of tajweed.

The rules of tajweed will be covered in feedback according to the level of the student. The concepts of the characteristics of letters (sifaat), accent (nabr), heaviness and lightness (tafkheem and tarqeeq) and rules of stopping (al-waqf wa’l ibtida’) among others will be covered. Rules will be introduced organically through the process of modeling correct recitation. The small group size of this class is to have focused time for individual recitation correction. Homework will be to practice and listen to correct recitation.

PREREQUISITE:

Students should have an understanding of Level 1 tajweed concepts. Students should be able to recite with correct articulation points and application of rules of noon and meem sākinah, mudood, and rules of raa.

By the end of this course, the student will have:

• Basic understanding of Quranic tajweed
• Better recitation of the Quran
• Knowledge of historical background of different surahs
